New Blog Post: September 2026
Notes from…A Still Sparkling Saturday in September (…just!)
September. The month where we all extol the virtues of the “true New Year”; explore back to school vibes and make plans for a fruitful and successful last quarter. It’s Virgo season, so it checks, but is it too much pressure, just at another time of year? Here, we think there’s merit to all of this (and not just for the purpose of shifting product!) Summer is all about being out of the house – it’s too hot! There’s so much to do! Roll in the cooler and increasingly dark days of September and it’s all about re-setting before the nights really draw in and we start on a coorie journey that’ll last a solid five months, maybe six (although never not blown away by some of the sunshine that March brings).
So, what is the great reset all about? We know there’s no such thing (blessedly) as one size fits all, but perhaps it could be about: Reconnecting. Rewiring. Rebasing.
Reconnecting – write to your friends! Call them! Anything but a half-hearted WhatsApp that says “How was your summer?”. Tell them about yours, in detail, to coax it out of them! We’re sending mini photo books of trips to those we went away with over the summer, along with a wee note. Ultimately fairly easy to do and inexpensive. One way to say hello for sure.
Rewiring – Sorting. It’s all about sorting…
Rebasing – This is about the future. Lists upon lists upon lists, to get to the nub of what’s next in life. Or, at least, what you think ‘next’ should look like. In vivid detail. You’ll thank yourself later. We set aside a new book for this, which then becomes the next year’s journal. Lofty ideas were set last year in anticipation of a ‘big birthday’. That’s going to be scaled back, but the list making doesn’t have to be! Sidenote: our notebooksare perfect for this.
Reading
‘Queenie’, by Candice Carty-Williams. A warm, friendly hug (with a touch of spice!)
Watching
‘The Gentlemen’ Sn 2. Starts off a bit slow and tedious, gets super engaging in the middle, then ends with (in my view) a built too much gratuitous violence. Worth it for Theo James alone (his acting, obv).
Sunday Saves
Planning a trip to Croatia later in the year and came across this – why don’t more places have small, independent brands offering picnics in a backpack? Love. Might be a bit cold by the time we’re there, but the concept is great. https://www.piknikdubrovnik.com
Having watched the ‘Sewing Bee’ (may have mentioned that somewhere on here – not sure), have enjoyed catching up with makes from the contestants post-show. Am fairly in awe of what they manage to pull together. @beames.designs and @atelier.anna.costume are standouts, obv. Check them out.
